Ireland is famous for it’s pubs, nightlife and social scene and we spoke with some of our interns to tell us what the Top 5 student pubs in Dublin were. Here is what they said!
Diceys, 21-25 Harcourt Street , Dublin 2
Situated on Harcourt Street, Diceys is very central and hugely popular with students from most of the colleges in the area. Taking place over 3 floors, there is a big outdoor area, a dance area, large TV screens to watch sports and food. The most popular night is Tuesday, when students can be seen queuing all the way to the bottom of Harcourt Street!
Cobblestone, Smithfield, Dublin 7
This is a lovely pub situated in Smithfield on the north side of the river Liffey. The Cobblestone is a traditional Dublin-style pub with live traditional Irish music every night so the atmosphere is amazing! It is a little popular with tourists, but because it is not in the centre of town, the crowd mostly consists of people living in the area. There is also a separate venue where you can see live rock, folk and indie music most nights of the week.
The Globe, 11 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2
One of the most popular pubs at the weekend, the Globe is situated on Georges Street, very close to the famous Georges Street Shopping Arcade. There is a good mix of people every night with a great atmosphere. From Thursday to Saturday nights a DJ plays in the bar, so you can dance to some great music. There is also access to RiRa, a great night club underneath the Globe.
The Temple Bar, 47/48 Temple Bar, Dublin 2
One of the most famous pubs in the Temple Bar area, this pub is mostly crowded with tourists at the weekend but huge numbers of students go there every weekend. It has over 5 rooms and live traditional music some nights. The drinks can be pricey though as it’s in the centre of a highly touristic area but the atmosphere is great!
Sweeney’s, 32 Dame St, Dublin 2
If you like live music, great conversation and meeting Irish people Sweeney’s is perfect. It’s located opposite the Central Bank, right in the heart of Dublin city. Upstairs there is a live music venue and bar, where you can hear Irish bands play all styles from Rock to Dance.
